Who Are We Walking With?

Updated: Sep 10, 2021

Our answer should be our Father God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Many of you were probably thinking more along the lines of family and friends. As I was reading the Bible and getting my inspiration for the day I came across a verse and learned we should also be walking with wisdom. From now on let's take the time to invite wisdom to walk with us because she has so much to offer us along the way.

The verse that God lit up so it would stand out for me to see is an instruction for us to follow. Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Proverbs 13:20 I am sure you noticed it is also followed with a consequence if we associate with fools. We have all associated with fools and gotten onto trouble especially when we were younger and thought we knew everything. As we grow older we learn to turn away from the foolish things in life and make room for the wise.

When we walk with the wise there is so much that we gain. The wise are those who know that iron sharpens iron and displays it while giving advice. Out of love we push each other to be the very best version of ourselves. If we start to stumble we have someone to help steady us. When we rise up to new heights there is no need to be put on a pedestal. We should remain humble and encourage those around us to rise up too. These are just a few things when I think about wisdom that comes from friendship.

The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom and instruction for our lives. Along with my time reading the Bible I also read devotions daily and the devotion was also about wisdom. So now I will show you what I was reminded of concerning wisdom. I feel refreshed after this reminder and hope you will feel refreshed too. Wisdom and trusting is the Lord offers so much and here are just a few of those according to Proverbs chapter 3. You will live many years and your life will be satisfying (vs.2). Favor with both God and people (vs.4). The Lord will show you which path to take (vs.6). You will have healing for your body and strength for your bones (vs.8). You will have plenty to eat and drink (vs.10). Joy (vs.13). A long life, riches, and honor (vs.16). Ways of pleasantness and paths if peace (vs.17,ESV). Happiness (vs.18). A refreshed soul (vs.22). Safety and a stumble free walk (vs.23). Fearless (vs.24). Security (vs.26). Power (vs.27).

I encourage you to read through Proverbs chapter 3 and as you learn what our instructions are these are the benefits that we will reap. If you enjoy Bible studies I encourage you to read the next chapter of Proverbs and see for your self other benefits we gain by applying wisdom.
