Overflowing Love

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. May you always be filled with the fruit of of your salvation-the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ*-for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Philippians 1:9-11

This prayer from Paul to the Philippians is one that we should pray for others. The first thing we need to do is ask God to fill us up with His love until it overflows. Once we are filled up our love can then overflow into the lives of others. Love can be expressed in many ways, but love is so much more than the words "I love you." Love is an action!

As we continue to grow we need to expand our knowledge and understanding gaining "Spiritual Wisdom" which produces growth and maturity learning to live a Christ-like life overflowing in love. This type of real love will help us to be sensitive of others feelings and learn even more about discernment. Our character will be built up and as our love grows we will want our love to overflow showing others love just as our Lord loves us.

Learning what really matters is not the knowledge and understanding of the things in this world. Yes, that helps in many areas, but spreading the love of the Lord is what really matters. This is why the first commandment is "Thou shalt live the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." The second commandment is "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

When our love overflows into the loves of others we want them to see that we are content in all circumstances. Living pure and blameless lives is being strengthened and filled with the power from our Almighty God filled with the fruit of righteousness from Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit working through us. Not one of us are righteous according to being perfect and we never will be here on earth. This is what amazes me. The fact that God looks down and sees us as righteous.

I hope this day and everyday is filled with love overflowing! I also hope you will take the time to listen to "Fill Me Up" by the artist Tasha Cobbs.
