And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
This morning as I took the time to meditate on this verse the word "admirable" is what stood out to me. We all have someone we look up to and admire. I had to ask myself if I was admirable. To be honest not lately. I allowed my feelings to get the better of me and it has taken a little longer to bounce back this time. Anyway I know what the root of the problem is and had to take the time to be honest with God. Let me just say don't let any feeling get the better of you.
As I kept meditating the words "worthy of praise" stood out and I was focused on God in that moment. I cried because as I let everything go that has been bothering me I realized that no matter what I am going through His name is still worthy to be praised. During this time I had to ask God to have mercy on me, a sinner. Thank God His mercies are new every morning. Once I told God I was tired of being stuck in what I was feeling and released it all to Him it was as the world had been lifted off of my shoulders.
When I finally moved on the words "keep putting into practice all you learned" stood out. I have learned so much and I know I am held accountable for the things I have learned. I encountered God when I meditated on this verse and while in His presence I felt a peace surround me. Once we take our eyes off of the problem and focus on God everything changes and we can bask in His peace.
Fix your thoughts and meditate on the things in the verses above so the peace of God will be with you.
